Thanks for taking time to watch the update video. The need for a reliable vehicle here in Zambia is great…. one of the most important tools here for us in ministry. Our goal is to bring the Gospel and raise disciples in unreached and neglected areas. In order to do this, a 4×4 vehicle is necessary.

As of June 30th, the price of the vehicle has changed (see the update below!). $21,000 is needed for the total cost and I’m currently at 72.2% of the needed funds have been raised. $5,820 is remaining to purchase the new truck!

At the beginning of June I was sitting at the red light in Livingstone when my truck started shaking! I quickly pulled into the parking lot and messaged our mechanics on base. After a quick discussion and quick inspection we figured that the engine mounts had worn out. A reasonable guess providing that the truck is 24 years old and has been on african roads for the past 8 years.

That following week I dropped the truck at the mechanic’s in town expecting to be able to pick it up in a couple days. However, I received an email that it wasn’t the engine mounts and is a SERIOUS problem. The cylinder head is warped with a few, small cracks. There is a chance that it will hold pressure. The mechanic has strongly advised that regardless of what happens, it’s time to retire the truck. His recommendation is that it’s no longer reliable for me to take it to the places where I’m ministering.

Please pray about helping to meet this need and consider sharing this with anyone you think might be interested in helping. All donations are tax deductible!

If you would like to partner with this project, you can make a donation online here. Please put “3004V” in the memo box in order for our finance office to designate the donation towards the new truck.

Thank you very much for your prayers and partnership. I really appreciate it!

Blessings,
Laura

June 30th, 2018 Update:

A lot has happened in the past couple of weeks. The final conclusion of the inspection and tests on the cylinder head for my truck is that it was unrepairable. After taking into consideration the cost of a new cylinder head, I’ve sold the truck to the mechanic and am able to to put that money towards purchasing a new vehicle.

The exciting part is that I’ve put a down payment on a new truck!

One of our team has decided to move back to the States and is selling their HIlux pick up. It’s exactly what I was looking to purchase and is already completely outfitted! The total cost for this vehicle with fees, new tires, and some miscellaneous costs is $21,000. With what has already come in, including the sale of my old truck, only $5820 is needed to be able to pay for everything in full!

Here’s a breakdown on how the finances will be used for the vehicle
(everything is subject to change based on exchange rates, etc)
