It’s been an incredible 6 months of being in America but I am so excited to be heading back in Zambia! These past months I’ve met with current supporters and even welcomed several new supporters to the team. I can’t thank God enough for this incredible group of people who have partnered with the ministry work I’m doing in Zambia with Overland Missions.
As I begin the prep and packing chaos for the two weeks, there are a few things I’d like all of my supporters know.
I’ve been thinking about support raising lately. Makes sense. It’s been on the top of my list since I returned back to America. Like most missionaries, my fellow co-laborers and I build up a team to fund this incredible work that God has called us to.
And I wouldn’t do it any other way!
The Zambian culture is very complex and diverse. With over 70 different tribes in one country, you learn living here that each one is similar yet different. However, greetings play a big role in every single one. Conversations are never rushed and there are countless ways to say “hello.”
One thing I love is the handshake. Zambians have a specific handshake that they greet each other with. It’s kind of like being in a secret club. If you don’t know it, you quickly fumble through, wondering “what the heck just happened?”
